Welcome to the Byron Union School District and the Excelsior Middle School Athletics program!  We are excited to have you join our amazing coaching staff.  

Below you will find a list of requirements that need to be completed before you can begin working with your student-athletes. I have also attached additional documents that you may need in order to complete the hiring process.

New Hire Packet (Coaches)
All documents within this packet must be completed and submitted to the Athletic Director prior to being cleared to begin working with our student-athletes. 

Online Courses:

Need to print out or email certificates for each course and submit to Athletic Director

1. Completion of Concussion in Sports training (no cost)  

2. Completion of Sudden Cardiac Arrest training (no cost)

First-Aid/CPR/AED

First Aid/CPR/AED: Must be a “live” class (No online certifications will be accepted) 

Fingerprint/Livescan

DOJ and FBI fingerprints (See attached Form)

TB Results

California law requires that school staff working with children and community college students be free of infectious tuberculosis (TB). These updated laws reflect current federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for targeted TB testing. 

AB 1667, effective January 1, 2015, SB 792 on September 1, 2016, and SB 1038on January 1, 2017, require a TB risk assessment be administered and if risk factors are identified, a TB test and examination be performed by a healthcare provider to determine that the person is free of infectious tuberculosis. 

TB Risk Assessment and Examination forms must be updated every 4 years. 

Background Clearance
You will need to complete the Livescan Request Form below and have your Livescan processed as soon as possible. Below you will find a location where you can have this completed. No appointment is necessary, but it is helpful to call ahead. You will need to bring a government-issued I.D. with you to have your Livescan processed. Please note that Byron Union School District covers the cost of the background check, but you are responsible for the “rolling fee”.
